This bill establishes a "breakfast after the bell" incentive fund, administered by the Department of Agriculture in consultation with the Department of Education, to provide a 10-cent supplement per breakfast to school districts that participate in the federal school breakfast program and meet specific eligibility criteria. To qualify for this additional reimbursement, public school districts must serve "breakfast after the bell," a program where breakfast is offered to students after the school day has begun, and have between 20 to 100 percent of their students eligible for free or reduced-price breakfast. The bill also mandates that the Department of Agriculture provide guidance and support to school districts, and that an annual report be submitted to the Governor and Legislature detailing the fund's cost and the program's impact on student participation.
