This bill appropriates $4.5 million from the state's general fund to the economic development grant fund for use between fiscal years 2016 and 2018, specifically to carry out the Economic Development Grant Act, which provides grants to support economic development initiatives. The economic development department is required to report to the relevant legislative committee about how this grant program is being implemented. Any money from this appropriation that is not spent or committed by the end of fiscal year 2018 will be returned to the general fund.
