This bill mandates that all peace officers, which refers to law enforcement officers as defined in section 1-215 of Arizona Revised Statutes, must wear a camera that records both audio and video while performing official duties that could lead to a criminal investigation or arrest. To ensure this requirement is met, the Attorney General will establish guidelines and directives for implementation and enforcement. Additionally, the bill establishes a Peace Officer Body Camera Study Committee, composed of various stakeholders including law enforcement officials, attorneys, and public members, to research and report on the effectiveness and training related to body camera usage, with their findings and recommendations due by December 31, 2015, and the committee's existence set to expire on June 30, 2016.
