This bill amends the Gross Receipts and Compensating Tax Act by creating a new exemption for gross receipts tax on the sale of pollution-control equipment. Pollution-control equipment is defined as tangible property used to meet or exceed environmental rules set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the state's Department of Environment, or any local government entity to prevent, monitor, control, or reduce pollution in the air, water, or land. This exemption is intended to encourage businesses to invest in equipment that helps protect the environment and will take effect on July 1, 2015.
