This bill amends the Legislative Lottery Tuition Scholarship Act to expand eligibility for the scholarship to include students who completed their primary education through a home-based or non-public school program in New Mexico, or who received a high school equivalency credential while residing in the state, in addition to those who graduated from a public or accredited private New Mexico high school. The bill clarifies that these students must have been accepted into and attended a public post-secondary educational institution (such as a community college, comprehensive institution, or university) immediately after completing their education or after honorable service in the U.S. armed forces, and must have achieved a minimum grade point average of 2.5 in their first semester of full-time enrollment. The "Legislative Lottery Tuition Scholarship Act" is the official name for the program that provides tuition assistance to qualified students attending public colleges and universities in New Mexico, funded by lottery revenue.
