This bill exempts the sale of college textbooks from sales and use tax in Florida, which is a tax on the purchase of goods and services. Specifically, it adds a new provision to existing law that states textbooks appearing on the official list of required materials for courses at Florida College System institutions or state universities will no longer be subject to this tax. This exemption is intended to reduce the cost of educational materials for students and will take effect on July 1, 2015.
