This bill aims to protect consumers by enhancing transparency in motor vehicle repairs. Specifically, it mandates that any written estimate for vehicle body repairs that includes the use of non-original manufacturer parts must prominently display a notice, in at least twelve-point type, informing the vehicle owner that these parts are not made by the original vehicle manufacturer and that any warranties on these parts come from their manufacturer or supplier, not the vehicle manufacturer, and could potentially void existing vehicle warranties. Additionally, the bill requires that insurers, their employees, or agents, when discussing a motor vehicle repair incident with a policyholder, must inform them that they have the right to choose any registered repair shop and that all registered shops must guarantee their work.
