This bill proposes to amend existing law regarding penalties for throwing or shooting objects at motor vehicles and other public transportation. Specifically, it seeks to increase the potential punishment for anyone who willfully throws or shoots an object at a motor vehicle, locomotive engine, railroad or railway car or train, motor bus, trackless trolley vehicle, or school bus, or who assaults or interferes with the operator of such a vehicle while they are performing their duties. The current law, as amended by this bill, would allow for a fine of up to $1,000, imprisonment for up to 5 years, or both, for such offenses.
