This bill modifies existing law concerning the fees charged by stenographers and transcribers for providing transcripts of court proceedings. Specifically, it updates the rates for original and additional copies of transcripts, setting the original at $3.75 per page and additional copies at $1.25 per page, with a minimum charge of $20. The bill also establishes a lower rate of $0.35 per page for additional copies requested by or for indigent individuals, also with a minimum charge of $20. Furthermore, it sets new rates for "daily copy," which is a transcript prepared very quickly, at $5.25 per page for the original and $1.75 per page for additional copies, with the same reduced rate and minimum charge applying for indigent individuals. The bill also removes certain existing provisions related to these fees.
