This bill requires physicians and physician assistants practicing in the Commonwealth to complete a one-hour online course on the early recognition of eating disorders by July 1, 2014, and to certify completion upon license renewal. The course, developed in consultation with the department of health and human services, will cover physical, emotional, and behavioral indicators of eating disorders, and the department can grant exemptions for practitioners whose work does not necessitate such training. Furthermore, hospitals and facilities will be prohibited from granting or renewing professional privileges for any physician or physician assistant who has not met this training requirement.
