This bill proposes to amend Section 89 of Chapter 71 of the general laws, which pertains to charter schools, by adding a new provision that grants the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (the "board") the authority to reconsider, revoke, or suspend a charter it has granted. This reconsideration, revocation, or suspension can occur within six months of the charter's approval, either initiated by the board itself or upon request. Importantly, any revocation must be supported by written findings that clearly explain the board's decision, and the charter applicant must receive adequate notice and a chance to present their case to the board before any action is taken.
