This bill directs the Division of Professional Licensure, specifically the board of examiners of plumbers and gas fitters, to update the Uniform State Plumbing Code and related regulations to create a distinct set of rules for agricultural buildings and operations, separate from those for residential and commercial structures. To guide these changes, an advisory committee will be formed, co-chaired by representatives from the plumbing board and the Department of Agricultural Resources, and including members from the Department of Public Health, a municipal plumbing inspector, a public member with no ties to the plumbing industry, and a representative from the Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation. This committee will make recommendations to ensure plumbing in agricultural settings is safe and effective without being overly burdensome to agricultural development, with the board then reviewing these recommendations and deciding which to implement within specific timeframes.
