Previously, individuals could deposit a certain amount of cash or valuable securities with the State Treasurer as an alternative to obtaining a motor vehicle liability policy or bond, which are types of insurance or guarantees that cover damages from accidents. This change means that individuals will now exclusively need to rely on insurance policies or bonds to meet these financial responsibility requirements for their vehicles.
