This bill clarifies the authority of the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC), a state agency that oversees public employee retirement systems, to hold hearings and conduct investigations. Specifically, it amends existing law, Chapter 36 of the Acts of 2012, to explicitly grant PERAC the power to hold hearings and provide guidance concerning matters related to Chapter 32, Section 15(7) of the law, which deals with retirement allowances based on salary information. The existing law already states that members are not entitled to a retirement allowance if their salary was intentionally concealed or misreported to the commonwealth or its subdivisions, and this bill further empowers PERAC to enforce these provisions through formal hearings and investigations.
