This bill mandates that insurance policies, hospital service plans, and medical service agreements in Massachusetts must provide coverage for breast cancer screening technology, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), for women deemed "high risk." High-risk women are defined as those with a personal history of cancer, a family history of breast cancer in two or more first-degree relatives, early onset of breast cancer in a first-degree relative, a history of breast cancer across multiple generations, cancer in both breasts of a first-degree relative, a positive test for BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutations, a first-degree relative who tested positive for these gene mutations, or a personal history of certain precancerous conditions like Atypical Lobular Hyperplasia or Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia. This coverage must be provided at least annually to women aged 25 and older, with exceptions for policies that only supplement government programs like Medicare.
