This bill establishes a special commission composed of 11 members to study and recommend improvements for veterans' transportation to medical and other service-connected appointments, aiming to expand and enhance existing options. The commission will include legislative leaders and members from the joint committees on veterans and federal affairs and transportation, along with designees from the secretary of transportation and the secretary of veterans' services, and five members appointed by the governor with expertise in veterans' or transportation issues. This commission will have the authority to hold hearings, gather expert and public testimony, and review successful transportation initiatives from other states, ultimately reporting its findings, an action plan, and proposed legislation to the general court within 270 days of its formation.
