This bill proposes to amend Chapter 25 of the Acts of 2009 to eliminate tolls on the Massachusetts Turnpike, which is operated and maintained by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. Specifically, it states that tolls will no longer be collected once all outstanding notes and bonds related to the turnpike and payable from its revenues have been fully paid or a sufficient amount has been set aside to cover these payments and their interest, or alternatively, tolls will cease on January 1, 2017, whichever of these events happens first. The term "turnpike" is defined as it is in section 1 of chapter 6C, referring to the Massachusetts Turnpike.
