This bill establishes a special joint committee composed of members from both the House of Representatives and the Senate, appointed by their respective leaders, to investigate and study the feasibility of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts bidding for and hosting the Summer Olympic Games in Boston. The committee's study will examine the potential costs and benefits to taxpayers and communities across the Commonwealth, including impacts on non-hosting communities, and will explore collaboration with other New England states and municipalities. It will also seek input from various stakeholders such as the business community, tourism and hospitality industries, major sporting facilities, and any organizations involved in planning or researching a Boston Olympic bid, while ensuring its own independent findings are reported. The committee is required to submit its findings and recommendations to several legislative committees and clerks by the first Wednesday of December 2015.
