This bill amends Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149 to allow minors between the ages of 11 and 14 to work as referees, umpires, or officials in youth athletic programs, provided certain conditions are met. Specifically, these young referees must officiate games for age groups younger than or equal to their own, and an adult representative of the athletic program must be present at all times. Additionally, the minor's parent or guardian must provide written consent, and the employer must furnish the minor with written policies outlining their duties and responsibilities, along with an orientation and training program before employment begins.
