This bill establishes the official headquarters of the Supreme Court in Tallahassee, Florida, but also allows Supreme Court Justices who live outside of that circuit to designate a courthouse or other facility in their home county as their official headquarters, which can serve as their private chambers. These justices may be reimbursed for subsistence and transportation expenses when traveling to the Supreme Court headquarters for official business, provided funds are available, and the bill clarifies that counties are not required to provide space and the Supreme Court cannot use state funds to lease such space. Additionally, the bill allows District Court of Appeal judges who reside more than 50 miles from their court's main location or branch to designate a county courthouse or similar facility in their home county as their official headquarters for private chambers, and they may be reimbursed for transportation expenses to their court for official business, again subject to available funds and without the court using state funds for leasing space.
