This bill proposes to exempt individuals retired from the commonwealth who are employed by certain "authorities" from restrictions on how much they can earn after retirement, specifically those restrictions found in sections 91(a) and (b) of chapter 32 of the General Laws. These authorities are defined as state authorities, or those created under specific sections of chapter 161B of the General Laws, and importantly, they must not have been part of the state employee's retirement system as of January 1, 2014. Additionally, for any retiree who previously gave up their retirement allowance to work for such an authority, this bill would reinstate their retirement allowance from the date they originally retired.
