This bill mandates that all newly constructed or significantly renovated motels, hotels, and inns, which are establishments offering temporary lodging for pay, must be equipped with an auxiliary emergency lighting system installed no higher than 18 inches from the floor, separate from the regular lighting. Additionally, these establishments will be required to display lighted signs indicating both a primary and secondary means of egress, using diagrams or symbols that are easily understood by everyone, regardless of their English proficiency, to ensure clear recognition of escape routes. These new signs are intended to supplement, not replace, existing standard exit signs.
