This bill mandates that various health insurance providers in the Commonwealth, including the Group Insurance Commission, private insurers, hospital service plans, medical service agreements, and health maintenance organizations, must provide coverage for medical and drug treatments to address body composition changes associated with HIV-associated lipodystrophy syndrome. This coverage is intended to correct or repair these disturbances and explicitly includes reconstructive surgery, such as suction-assisted lipectomy, other restorative procedures, and dermal injections or fillers for facial lipoatrophy. Importantly, these benefits cannot be subject to higher deductibles, coinsurance, copayments, or out-of-pocket limits than other benefits offered by the respective providers, ensuring equitable access to these treatments for affected individuals.
