This bill proposes to amend existing Massachusetts General Laws concerning dentistry licensure examinations by allowing applicants to demonstrate competency in lieu of a practical examination. Specifically, it would permit individuals to substitute successful completion of at least one year of graduate dental training as a resident dentist in a PGY-1 (Postgraduate Year 1) program or another program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. This substitution would be allowed provided that the supervising dentist at the end of that year provides satisfactory documentation to the board, attesting to the resident dentist's competence in all areas that would have been covered by the practical examination.
