This bill mandates that various healthcare professionals, including physicians, physician assistants, dietitians, nutritionists, nurses, dental professionals, and those in allied mental health and human services professions, must complete specialized training to better address the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which are conditions that affect a person's intellectual and adaptive functioning. Additionally, the bill tasks the office of health equity within the executive office of health and human services with evaluating access to medical care, mental health needs, discrimination, community support relationships, and the availability of qualified healthcare providers for this population, and then developing regulations to reduce health disparities experienced by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
