This bill amends existing law to allow for the on-shore processing of live lobsters of legal length into frozen shell-on lobster parts or tails within the Commonwealth, and also permits the importation of unfrozen shell-on lobster parts or tails for further processing by wholesale dealers licensed by the department of public health. These processed lobster parts or tails, if weighing three ounces or more, can then be possessed, sold, or offered for sale by wholesale dealers, retail dealers, and food establishments, and can also be possessed by consumers, provided the packaging is labeled according to federal and state regulations. This provision does not apply to common carriers transporting lobsters.
