This bill requires that any party who wins a judgment for money damages in court must officially report that the judgment has been fully paid within 60 days of payment. This applies to judgments in small claims cases, general civil cases, and summary process cases (which often involve rent disputes). If the winning party fails to file this notice of satisfaction, they could be responsible for the costs and attorney fees the other party (the judgment debtor) incurred to prove the judgment was indeed satisfied. This requirement does not apply if the judgment was satisfied through a levy of execution, which is a legal process where a court seizes and sells property to satisfy a debt.
