This bill clarifies existing law to ensure that members of the ready reserve of the armed forces or the Massachusetts National Guard are entitled to be restored to their previous or a similar position with the same status, pay, and seniority after leaving their employment for military training, provided they give their employer notice of their departure and return dates and satisfactorily complete the training. This period of absence for military training will be considered an absence with leave, which can be with or without pay at the employer's discretion, and will not negatively impact the employee's right to normal benefits like vacation, sick leave, bonuses, or advancements. If an employer fails to comply with these provisions, the employee has the option to sue for damages or seek court-ordered equitable relief.
