This bill aims to enhance protections for children by restricting the use of certain pesticides. It proposes to amend existing law, specifically Section 6C of Chapter 132B, to include new areas where pesticide application would be limited. These areas include properties occupied by the Department of Children and Families, facilities of the Juvenile Court, facilities of the Department of Youth Services, and sports fields used by town youth teams. Furthermore, the bill expands these restrictions to apply to properties located within 150 feet of these sensitive locations, including neighboring properties (abutters). The amendments also clarify that these restrictions apply to both "school" and "department" settings, and importantly, the bill states that these rules will be enforced regardless of who hires the party applying the pesticides, whether it's a public or private owner of property, a management company, or any other individual or legal entity.
