This bill clarifies the effective date for certain pay provisions of the Border Patrol Agent Pay Reform Act of 2014, establishing that these changes will generally go into effect on the first day of the first pay period that begins on or after January 1, 2016. However, it makes an exception for provisions related to administering elections and making advance assignments to a regular work schedule, which can be applied before the general effective date if the Director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), a government agency responsible for managing federal employees, deems it necessary. The OPM is also authorized to issue any required regulations before this new effective date. The bill further specifies that this clarification is considered to have been enacted on the same date the original Border Patrol Agent Pay Reform Act of 2014 became law.
