This bill establishes the Wildlife and Hunting Heritage Conservation Council Advisory Committee to advise the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture on matters related to wildlife and habitat conservation, hunting, and recreational shooting, building upon the existing Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act. The Advisory Committee will provide guidance on implementing Executive Order 13443, which promotes hunting heritage and wildlife conservation, as well as on conserving various habitats, increasing access to hunting and shooting sports on federal lands, recruiting new hunters and shooters, raising public awareness about wildlife conservation and the benefits of hunting and shooting, and fostering coordination among different stakeholders including the public, hunting and shooting communities, conservation groups, states, tribes, and the federal government. The bill outlines specific requirements for the committee's membership, which will include both discretionary members appointed from various relevant sectors and ex officio members from federal agencies and the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies, and details rules for meetings, pay and expenses, administrative support, and annual reporting to Congress. Notably, this new Advisory Committee will be exempt from the Federal Advisory Committee Act, a law that generally governs advisory committees, and the existing Wildlife and Hunting Heritage Conservation Council will be abolished upon the first meeting of the newly established Advisory Committee.
