This bill, titled the Dams Accountability, Maintenance, and Safety Act, amends the Reclamation Safety of Dams Act of 1978 to allow for the development of additional project benefits, such as increased water storage capacity, by constructing new or supplementary works on existing projects. This can be done even if it deviates from the original construction plans, provided the Secretary of the Interior determines it will lead to more efficient water management, has been authorized by a feasibility study under the Federal Water Project Recreation Act of 1965, and the associated costs are allocated and repaid according to existing Federal Reclamation law.
