This bill proposes to create a standardized system for beach warning and safety flags across the state. The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), a state agency responsible for managing public lands including coastal areas, will develop this program. This program will establish uniform standards for the size, shape, color, and meaning of all warning and safety flags that the DCR deems necessary for public coastal beaches it maintains and guards. Additionally, any city or town that oversees a public beach along the coast will have the option to adopt and use this same state-wide flag program.
