This bill authorizes the town of Wareham to issue one additional license for establishments that sell alcoholic beverages intended for consumption on-site, overriding a general state law (section 17 of chapter 138 of the General Laws) that typically limits the number of such licenses a town can grant. This new license is specifically for an establishment located at 167 Onset Avenue and will be subject to all regulations within chapter 138, except for the general limitation on the number of licenses. Once issued, the license cannot be moved to a different location, but it can be transferred to a new applicant at the same address if the applicant demonstrates that the business is in good standing with the department of revenue and the department of unemployment assistance, meaning all taxes and fees are paid. If the license is no longer used at its original location, it will be returned to the town's licensing authority, which can then grant it to a new applicant for the same location under the same conditions. The bill takes effect immediately upon its passage.
