This bill establishes a special commission to study the feasibility of creating a real-time database that would link license suspensions from the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) with taxi driver licenses, aiming to improve public safety by ensuring taxi drivers do not operate with suspended licenses. The commission will comprise eleven members, including appointees from the governor, the registrar of the RMV, a police chief, members of the state senate and house of representatives, the attorney general, and a representative from the Boston Taxi Drivers Association. This commission is tasked with reporting its findings and any proposed legislation to implement its recommendations to the clerks of the Senate and House by July 31, 2016.
