This bill establishes the Florida Unique Abilities Partner Program, administered by the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), to recognize businesses that demonstrate a commitment to individuals with disabilities. The program defines "individuals who have a disability" as those with physical or intellectual impairments that substantially limit major life activities. Businesses can apply for or be nominated for designation as a Florida Unique Abilities Partner based on their achievements in employing individuals with disabilities, contributing to disability organizations, or establishing programs that support the independence of individuals with disabilities. To qualify, businesses must meet specific criteria, such as employing at least one individual with a disability for a minimum period or making financial or in-kind contributions to disability causes. The DEO will develop a logo for designated businesses to use and will maintain a website listing these partners and providing resources.
