Specifically, it changes the term "supervisory physician" to "supervising physician" and clarifies that PAs must inform patients of their right to see the physician before a prescription is issued or dispensed, and that prescriptions can be in paper or electronic format, must include the supervising physician's information along with the PA's prescriber number, and must be filled at a permitted pharmacy by a licensed pharmacist unless it's a drug sample dispensed by the PA. The bill also updates licensure requirements by replacing the need for sworn statements about criminal history and license history with acknowledgments, and removes the requirement for letters of recommendation and specific pharmacotherapy course transcripts for prescribing authority applications, while still requiring continuing education hours in the PA's specialty practice for prescriptive privileges.
