This bill establishes the Gloucester Fisheries Commission as a public entity sponsored by the City of Gloucester, tasked with investigating, advocating for, and recommending measures to promote, preserve, and protect the Gloucester Fishing Industry, as well as participating in the marketing of local seafood. The commission will consist of nine members appointed by the mayor with city council approval, including the mayor or their designee, a city councilor, and seven individuals involved in the commercial fishing business, with provisions for at-large members if necessary, and will annually select a Chair and Vice Chair from among its members. The bill also allows for the appointment of an executive director by the mayor, upon the commission's recommendation, with compensation determined by the mayor and approved by the city council.
