This bill authorizes the town of Manchester-by-the-Sea to appoint Albert B. Beardsley as an interim fire chief, overriding any existing laws that might prevent this. He can serve in this role until August 31, 2016, or until he retires or is relieved of his duties by the town administrator, as long as he is mentally and physically capable of performing his job. The town's board of selectmen can have him medically examined at their own cost to confirm his fitness for duty.
