This bill, titled "Extending a certain property tax exemption for seniors in the town of Sudbury," proposes to amend a previous act from 2012 that authorized Sudbury to establish a property tax exemption for senior citizens based on their financial need (a "means tested" exemption). Specifically, this bill would change how the extension of this exemption is handled: instead of automatically expiring, the town meeting in Sudbury will now vote every three years, starting in 2018, on whether to extend the exemption for another three years. If the town meeting votes to extend it, the exemption continues; if they vote against it, the exemption expires.
