This bill requires school districts in Florida to annually add seven special consideration points to the total score of all domains on a child's "matrix of services," which is a system used to assess a child's needs, for any child who is deaf or hard of hearing and enrolled in an auditory-oral education program, until that child either leaves the program or turns seven years old. Additionally, these children will be eligible for auditory-oral education grants until they reach seven years of age, provided they are enrolled in a program that serves multiple counties, including rural and underserved areas, and that program exclusively offers auditory-oral education and has faculty certified as listening and spoken language specialists.
