This bill modifies existing Florida law regarding the reemployment of retired school district personnel, specifically those who were members of the instructional staff, which refers to teachers and other educational professionals. Previously, a retired member could interrupt their retirement and be reemployed in any public school, and if reemployed by the same district they retired from, they could be employed on a probationary or annual contractual basis. This bill amends the law to allow a retired member of the instructional staff to be reemployed only on a probationary or annual contractual basis, as outlined in section 1012.335 of Florida Statutes, which governs contracts for instructional staff.
