Bill Summary

This bill consolidates the functions of the Office of the Inspector General and the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General under the Office of the State Comptroller. The employees of each office who are employed on the effective date of this bill, and determined by the State Comptroller to be necessary to carry out the duties of the Office of the State Comptroller pursuant to this bill, will be continued and transferred to the Office of the State Comptroller. Such transfers will be consistent with the State Agency Transfer Act, and transferred employees will be deemed confidential employees for the purposes of the New Jersey Employer-Employee Relations Act. This bill also repeals various sections of law regarding the appointment and term of the Inspector General and the Medicaid Inspector General. The position and term of office of the Inspector General and the Medicaid Inspector General are terminated.
