This bill grants the Governors of New Jersey and New York the power to veto actions taken by the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor (a bi-state agency overseeing the ports of New York and New Jersey) by disapproving the minutes of commission meetings within a 10-day period, after which any unapproved actions become null and void. The bill also expands gubernatorial oversight by requiring the approval of both Governors for the commission to retain counsel and private consultants, make and enforce rules and regulations, and for the commission to appoint officers, agents, and employees. Additionally, the bill requires the commission to submit information regarding hired longshoremen or port watchmen, and their compensation, to the Governors for approval, and mandates that the commission's independent auditors must also be approved by the Governors.
