This bill appropriates $125,000 from the general fund to the higher education department for fiscal year 2017 to create and put into action a system for predicting workforce gaps. This system will aim to determine the quantity and nature of future job openings, the necessary skills and qualifications for those jobs, the current educational and training programs available, and any shortfalls in meeting present and future workforce needs. Any money not spent or committed by the end of fiscal year 2017 will be returned to the general fund.
