This bill authorizes a special Combat Action Badge license plate program in New Jersey. The license plates will display the words "Combat Action Badge" and the associated emblem. Eligible applicants must be holders of the Combat Action Badge, as verified by their DD-214 form or Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty. A one-time $50 application fee and an annual $10 renewal fee will be charged for these plates, with the revenue deposited into a "Combat Action Badge License Plate Fund" to support programs benefiting combat veterans. The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission will oversee the program, but the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will provide initial funding and a liaison to coordinate with the Commission. The program will only be implemented if the Department can provide at least 500 paid applications to offset the Commission's initial costs.
