Bill Summary

This bill requires the New Jersey Transit Corporation (New Jersey Transit) to provide for the removal of snow from all stops, stations, and stands used for the loading and unloading of passengers of motorbus regular route service, except in a municipality where the removal of snow or ice has been provided for by written agreement or contract between New Jersey Transit and a public or private entity; or in a municipality or county that has enacted an ordinance or resolution designating another public or private entity responsible for snow removal. New Jersey Transit is also required to provide the name and phone number of the entity responsible for snow removal at each stop, station, and stand on the New Jersey Transit website. The bill permits New Jersey Transit to enter into a contract or written agreement for snow removal at a motorbus regular route service stop, station, or stand used for the loading and unloading of passengers with a county or municipality without advertisement for bids if: the scope of work does not allow for the award of a contract by the county or municipality to an outside contractor; or the Executive Director of New Jersey Transit determines the work to be performed is immediately necessary for public safety.
