This bill would permit voter registration up to 14 days before an election, reducing the current 21-day deadline. The bill would not affect the requirement that a person must reside in a county for 30 days prior to an election to be eligible to vote in that election. The bill also makes other changes to voter registration procedures, such as reducing the deadline for filing a change of address notice from 21 days to 14 days before an election, and requiring the Secretary of State (rather than the Attorney General) to oversee certain voter registration activities.
