This bill permits juveniles to be admitted into special probation, which is commonly referred to as the drug court program, under certain circumstances. Under current law, a person may be admitted into drug court if the person was convicted of a crime that has a presumption of incarceration or a minimum period of parole ineligibility and if the person also meets certain eligibility criteria. Under the provisions of this bill, juveniles who are adjudicated delinquent and subject to a term of incarceration or a minimum term of parole ineligibility may be admitted into drug court if the juvenile meets the eligibility criteria.
