This bill proposes to amend existing law to exempt disabled veterans from paying sales tax when they lease a motor vehicle. Specifically, it modifies Section 6 of Chapter 64H of the General Laws to include a new subsection that grants this exemption to veterans who have been declared permanently disabled by the medical advisory board, as established by Section 8C of Chapter 90, and who have been issued a disabled veteran number plate under Section 2 of the same chapter. This exemption would apply to only one motor vehicle that is owned or leased and registered for the veteran's personal, noncommercial use.
